On July 2, 2021 just before 8:40 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 400 block of N 16th St regarding a report of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located one victim, an adult female, who sustained at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Based on the severity of the injuries, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. Detectives conducted a thorough canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence as part of the investigation to determine what occurred.
The victim ultimately succumbed to her injuries on July 5. Through determined investigative work, detectives were able to identify Arviel Robertson, a 36-year-old female, as the suspect in this shooting. Robertson was located in Nacogdoches, Texas and was arrested by an outside agency. She remains in custody in Nacogdoches and will be extradited to Sacramento for a homicide charge in the coming weeks.
This incident remains under investigation and detectives are still seeking information regarding this incident, however it is believed that there are no further outstanding suspects.
