On Monday, November 1 just before 12:45 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of J Street and 29th Street regarding a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. When officers arrived on scene, they located a female adult subject lying in the roadway with serious injuries. Despite efforts to render aid, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding fire personnel. The involved vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.
Due to the circumstances, crime scene investigators and detectives from the Sacramento Police Department Major Collision Investigation Unit responded to take over the investigation. Detectives and CSI personnel processed the scene and conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is still in its early stages and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
