On November 8, 2021, at approximately 8:56 a.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to a residence located in the 7300 block of Meadowgate Drive for a reported shooting that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they located one adult male who had sustained at least one gunshot wound lying in front of the residence. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from the fire department. Based on preliminary information the deceased male may have been involved in a robbery that was occurring inside of the residence. A resident of the house then shot the male.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. Detectives conducted a neighborhood canvass for additional information and evidence. The resident who shot the male has also been identified and contacted by detectives. In order to protect the integrity of this investigation there is no further information to release at this time. When the investigation is complete the case will be forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office to determine if criminal charges are appropriate.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
