On January 4, 2022 at approximately 10:43 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 1000 Block of Garden Highway regarding a pedestrian down in the roadway.  Responding officers located the pedestrian, an adult female, who had sustained major injuries from an apparent vehicle collision.  Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.

Due to the fatality, detectives from the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigations Unit responded to take over the investigation. Detectives and crime scene investigators conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence, witnesses, and additional information.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
