On January 5, 2022 Just before 4:50 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of K Street regarding a report of a shooting in a parking garage. When officers arrived at the parking garage, they located a female adult who sustained serious injuries from at least one gunshot wound. Officers attempted to perform life-saving measures, but the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from the fire department.

Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. Investigators will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence, witnesses, and additional information. This investigation is still in its early stages however this is believed to be an isolated incident. In order to preserve the integrity of this investigation, there is no further information to release at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
