On May 14, 2021 shortly after 1 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 3000 Block of Florin Road regarding a report of a subject that was located deceased in the area. The victim, a female adult, had sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased by responding personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department.
Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation and conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence, witnesses, and information. Detectives worked with the county coroner’s office and determined the victim’s injuries were sustained from a physical assault.
During a lengthy investigation that included conducting numerous interviews, reviewing videos, and serving several search warrants, detectives identified 22-year-old Jaquane Baldwin-Badger as the suspect in this homicide. Baldwin-Badger had been in custody in a state prison facility since July 2021 for an unrelated case. On January 19th, Baldwin-Badger was extradited to Sacramento where he remains in custody in the Sacramento County Main Jail.
