The Sacramento Police Department has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Centene Charitable Foundation to support the Criminal Justice Academy program.
The Sacramento Police Department operates five Criminal Justice Academies supported by the Sacramento Police Foundation at Grant Union, Inderkum, John F. Kennedy, CK McClatchy, and Hiram Johnson high schools. The academies are structured as a school-within-a-school that combines academic and career technical educational courses framed around a career theme intended to prepare high school students for both college and careers.
The Sacramento Police Foundation provides college mentoring, SAT preparation, field trips, financial literacy training, college scholarships, and much more.
“These programs have been providing great experiences and knowledge to our students for decades,” said Sergeant Jared Kiser, the coordinator of the academies. “This grant from Centene will provide many more great opportunities and services to help our students to succeed.”
The Sacramento Police Department and the Sacramento Police Foundation would like to thank the Centene Charitable Foundation for this grant and their continued support of the high school criminal justice academies.
