On February 10, 2022 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Sacramento Police Department officers responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Norwood Avenue regarding a two-vehicle collision. Officers arrived and located both involved vehicles, each having extensive damage. The driver of one of the vehicles sustained major injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. Three other subjects, including the driver of the second involved vehicle were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
Due to the fatality, detectives from the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigations Unit responded to take over the investigation. Detectives and crime scene investigators conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence, witnesses, and additional information.
The driver of the second involved vehicle was identified as 33 year-old, Alantae Hemmingway. Based on the investigation, Alantae Hemmingway was arrested for multiple related charges including Gross Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated, and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
