On February 28, 2022 at approximately 8:14 p.m., officers responded to the 5900 Block of 24th St regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a male adult, with at least one gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to the victim until relieved by personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation and will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is in the early stages and information is limited. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin notifications have been made.
