On April 18, 2022, an arrest warrant was issued for Sacramento Police Officer Benjamin Gray on multiple charges of 632(a) PC (Recording confidential communication without consent) and 647(j)(3)(A) PC (Video recording of intimate settings without consent) stemming from an investigation by the Folsom Police Department. Gray turned himself in to the Sacramento County Main Jail. Gray was placed on administrative leave and his peace officer powers were suspended on January 17, 2022, after the Folsom Police Department advised the Sacramento Police Department that they were pursuing a criminal complaint related to the conduct of Officer Gray. His administrative leave will continue while the Sacramento Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division conducts an administrative investigation as the criminal case proceeds through the judicial system.
“As peace officers we should hold ourselves to the highest standards, both on and off-duty. This alleged criminal behavior is both disturbing and unacceptable and weakens the trust between law enforcement and the community, which we work so hard every day to build and maintain,” said Chief Katherine Lester.
