On April 25, 2022, just before 2 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2500 block of Cheryl Way regarding a report of an assault. When officers arrived on scene, they located a female adult victim with serious injuries that appeared to be from some type of assault. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medical personnel.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be canvassing the area for additional information, evidence, and witnesses. Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident.  No further information regarding the circumstances or suspect information are available at this time.  

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
