National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Sacramento Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are hosting Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Public Safety Center at 5770 Freeport Boulevard in Sacramento. The public will be able to drop off unused medications in the form of tablets, capsules, patches, liquids with tape around the cap, and other solid forms of prescription drugs. In addition, vaping devices and cartridges can be surrendered provided lithium batteries are removed. Intravenous solutions, syringes and other sharps, and illegal drugs will not be accepted.

Studies indicate a majority of abused prescription drugs come from family and friends, including from home medicine cabinets. Clearing out unused medicine helps keeps households and the community safe.
