Homicide Investigation - Brighton Avenue & Del Monte Avenue

On August 19, 2022, just after 3:00 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Brighton Avenue & Del Monte Avenue regarding reports of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers observed a parked RV that was engulfed in flames.  Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded and extinguished the fire.  After putting the fire out, Sacramento Fire Department personnel located a deceased subject inside the RV.   

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene and canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is in its early stages and the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to provide at this time. 

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
