On August 20, 2022, shortly after midnight, Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of La Mancha Way & Elder Court regarding reports of an injured person laying in the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult male, suffering from major injuries which appeared to have been sustained during a vehicle collision. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect vehicle fled from the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
Based on the circumstances, detectives from the Major Collisions Investigations Unit responded to take over the investigation. Detectives canvassed the area for evidence, witnesses, and surveillance footage. This investigation is in the early stages and the circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
There is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
