UPDATE: September 15, 2022 - The Sacramento Police Department is seeking information regarding a homicide at the Harris Avenue and Fig Street intersection that occurred on August 27, 2022. We are aware that there may be a video of the shooting that surfaced on social media. On August 27, 2022 shortly before 10:50 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Harris Avenue and Fig Street for a report that a subject had been shot. After arriving at the scene, responding officers located one victim, a male adult, with at least one gunshot wound. The victim sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from the Sacramento Fire Department.
Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses. The circumstances of what occurred remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
