On September 27, 2022 around 9:07 a.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 3800 block of 6th Avenue for multiple reports of a shooting. When officers arrived on scene, they located evidence of a shooting and determined that one adult male shooting victim self-transported to an area hospital prior to police arrival. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area for evidence, and interviewed witnesses. This investigation is in its early stages and information is limited. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.
This incident is included in five shooting fatalities across four incidents in Sacramento in less than 72 hours. Unchecked violent crime destroys our community and harms families, relationships, and critical community infrastructure. Reducing violent crime remains a top priority for us. The Sacramento Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance as we continue our efforts to combat these tragic incidents. It is vital to remain unified as we work to reduce harm in our city.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
