Update: Arrest made in 2020 Homicide Investigation
On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, after an extensive investigation by Sacramento Police Department Homicide Detectives, an arrest warrant was issued for the arrest of 20 year-old Treace Palmer of Sacramento. At the time the arrest warrant was issued, Palmer was already in custody on unrelated charges in Washoe County Nevada. With the assistance of The Washoe County Sheriff's Office Investigations Unit, Sacramento Police Department detectives were able to arrest Palmer on his warrant while we was still in custody in Washoe County. Palmer is currently still in custody in Nevada, and will eventually be extradited back to Sacramento to face Homicide charges related to the murder of 19-year-old Sarayah Redmond on September 25, 2020.

Homicide Investigation – 2600 Block of Stonecreek DriveOn September 25, 2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2600 block of Stonecreek Drive regarding a shooting that had occurred. Officers responded and located one adult male, and one adult female, who had been shot. Officers immediately began to render medical aid to both victims. Fire department personnel arrived shortly after and transported both victims to a local hospital. The female victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital by medical staff. The male victim is in stable condition and expected to survive.Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have now taken over the investigation. Detectives are conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence. Detectives believe the suspect fled prior to officer’s arrival and have no further information to provide at this point. The motive for this shooting remains under investigation.The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.The Sacramento Police Department encourages any witnesses with information regarding this shooting to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
