On October 30, 2022, just after 12:00 p.m., Sacramento Police Department Patrol officers responded to the area of Phoenix Park Drive and Savannah Drive regarding reports of an occupied vehicle that had collided with a fence. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, a male adult, in the driver’s seat suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers immediately began rendering emergency medical aid to the victim until relieved by responding fire department personnel. Despite these efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene for evidence, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses. The investigation is in the early stages and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
