On November 20, 2022 around 4:15 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Dry Creek Road and Marysville Boulevard for a report of a collision involving three vehicles. A passenger in one involved vehicle, a female adult, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. She succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospitals for treatment.
Due to the circumstances, traffic detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and conducted interviews. During the investigation one involved driver, Joel Jimenez-Cervante, 25, was found to be driving under the influence. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained from the collision and once medically cleared, he will be booked into the Sacramento County Jail for charges including vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
