On November 21, 2022 just before 10:00 PM, patrol officers responded to the area of 29th Street & Gardendale Road regarding a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult male, suffering from serious injuries. Officers began rendering life-saving efforts to the victim until relieved by responding Sacramento Fire Department personnel. Despite these efforts, the victim was eventually pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Sacramento Police Department Major Collision Investigations Unit and crime scene investigators responded to the scene. During their investigation, detectives located the suspect, 60-year-old Bobby Thomas, at a nearby residence.
Based on the investigation, Thomas was arrested and booked for Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while intoxicated and charges related to DUI.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
