On December 11, 2022 around 4:35 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 5200 block of Stockton Boulevard for a report of a shooting. A private security officer was involved in a physical altercation with a subject and during the altercation, the security officer shot the subject. The male adult subject was transported to a hospital where he was succumbed to his injuries on December 13th.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and conducted interviews. The involved security guard was not arrested. The investigation remains active and detectives continue to follow up on the circumstances of the incident.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
