The Sacramento Police Department, in partnership with Sacramento State University, Institute of Social Research (ISR), is asking for residents' feedback and recommendations on rising violent crime, including gun violence.
An evidence-based process found that nearly 50% of violent crimes occur within 7 square miles of the 100-square mile City. The 7-square miles include the below-focused areas:
· Mack Road/Valley High area (South Area, District 5)
· Oak Park (East Area, District 6)
· Del Paso Heights (North Area, District 2)
Your participation with an anonymous 14-questions survey is requested and appreciated. Most importantly, the Sacramento Police Department wants your recommendations for reducing gun violence. Your feedback, the Listening Sessions conducted in October 2022, and a Youth Listening Session scheduled for March 2023 will be used to develop and guide the Sacramento Police Department's future efforts. As Chief Kathy Lester has emphasized, "Community Safety is a shared responsibility."
On Saturday, February 25, 2023, Sacramento Police Department employees and community members will leave door hangers at residences in the focus areas listed above containing the QR code to the survey. The survey will be open for 30 days, from February 25 – March 27. Once you complete the survey, you will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift card (5 total winners) selected by Sacramento State University. Any questions on the survey can be directed to 916-808-0866 or Outreach@pd.cityofsacramento.org.
