On March 19, 2023, around 6:00 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to Franklin Boulevard and 26th Avenue regarding a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult with serious injuries. Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The suspect vehicle fled from the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
Based on the circumstances, detectives from the Major Collisions Investigations Unit responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene and canvassed the area for evidence and witnesses. This investigation is in the early stages and the circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
