On October 18, 2023, around 6:00 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to Fruitridge Road and 65th Street Expressway to check the welfare of a person down in the roadway. At the scene, officers located a female adult with significant injuries, unresponsive on the ground. The female was pronounced deceased on scene by responding fire department personnel. Based on the evidence observed on scene, it was believed that the female was struck by a vehicle. That involved vehicle fled the scene prior to police arriving on scene.

Due to the circumstances, detectives from the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigations Unit responded to take over the investigation. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next the kin have been notified.
