On 9/24/2023, at approximately 4:35 am, Officers responded to the 3700 block of Franklin Boulevard regarding an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult going in and out of consciousness with facial injuries. The victim later identified as 66-year-old Jimmy Lee McDowell was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officers on scene conducted a thorough investigation, took statements, contacted witnesses, and looked for potential evidence. The case was forwarded to our investigations division.

Detectives from our Homicide Unit began actively investigating this case and were able to identify the suspect as 28-year-old Gerquan Clark of Sacramento. 

On 10/25/2023, Detectives were notified that the victim in this case had succumbed to his injuries.

On 10/26/2023, Detectives obtained a homicide warrant for Clark’s arrest. On 11/6/2023, Detectives from the Sacramento Police Department Located Clark and arrested him for the homicide warrant. Clark was later transported and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.
