On December 7, 2023, around 12:51 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 6100 Block of Riverside Boulevard regarding reports of a shooting. While officers were responding, they were advised that the victim had been transported to an area hospital by a vehicle on scene.

Officers responded to and secured the scene. The victim, a 21-year-old male adult, was later located at an area hospital suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of medical staff, the victim was later pronounced deceased.

Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
