On December 23, 2023, just before 02:15 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of 15th Street and 60th Avenue for a report of a person lying on the ground. At the scene, officers located one adult male who was unresponsive. Officers immediately provided medical aid until the Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene. Despite those efforts, the male was pronounced deceased on scene by medical personnel. Based on the evidence on scene, officers believed the victim was hit by a vehicle. That vehicle was not on scene when police arrived.
Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
