On January 09, 2024, just before 6:00 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to Freeport Blvd and Potrero Way for initial reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. At the scene, officers located an adult female with significant injuries. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The involved vehicle fled prior to police arriving on scene. Based on witness statements, officers believe that the victim was riding a bicycle before she was struck by the vehicle.
Due to the circumstances, detectives from our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) and Crime Scene Investigators responded and processed the scene. Investigators conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and witnesses.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next the kin have been notified.
