On January 16th, 2024, around 7:45 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to 21st Street & X Street regarding reports of a vehicle vs. bicyclist hit-and-run collision. Upon arrival, officers located a 55-year-old female adult with significant injuries. The vehicle had fled the scene prior to officer's arrival. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Due to the severity of the injuries, detectives from the Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collision Investigations Unit responded to take over the investigation. Detectives and crime scene investigators conducted a thorough canvass of the area for evidence, witnesses, and additional information.
On January 17th, 2024, Detectives from the Sacramento Police Department were notified that the victim had succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after the next of kin have been notified.
Around 9:00 a.m., south area patrol officers and detectives located the suspect's vehicle traveling in the area of 19th Street and Broadway. An enforcement stop was conducted and the driver, 63-year-old Payton Glynn of Sacramento was arrested. He will be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges
