On February 17, 2024, just after 2:45 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the intersection of Edmonton Drive and Northstead Drive for a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers located one adult male inside of a vehicle who sustained at least one gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency medical aid to the victim. The Sacramento Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital. Despite the life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing any potential witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. No arrests have been made and there is no suspect information to provide at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
