The Return Me Safe Program is a voluntary and confidential community resource that allows families and caregivers to share vital information for vulnerable community members (persons with developmental disabilities or medical conditions) in the City of Sacramento, with the Sacramento Police Department. This information can assist public safety personnel in efficiently responding to calls for service involving a vulnerable community member by providing crucial contact and medical information to meet individual needs.
To assist officers in appropriately responding to calls, families and caregivers can provide details including preferred communication methods, suggestions for approaches, behavioral considerations, previous wandering details, and other special considerations regarding a vulnerable person through the confidential Return Me Safe Program database.
To register for the Return Me Safe Program, please visit the Sacramento Police Department's City Portal at https://apps.sacpd.org/Portal.
No vulnerable person’s information will be shared with the public unless permission is given to the police department specifically for media dissemination. To maintain the most up-to-date information, the registrant must update the information (including a high-quality photograph) every three years for continued participation in the program. Unless withdrawn beforehand, information will be retained for three years before it is purged.
The Return Me Safe Program and associated information will only be utilized to respond to calls for service involving the person(s) registered to promote effective interactions with them and, if applicable, return the person home or to another responsible person(s).
