On February 1, 2025, at around 11:45 p.m., The Sacramento Police Communications Center was made aware of a pursuit from the Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD). Shortly after 11:50 p.m., our Communications Center was advised that shots were fired at pursuing officers from the suspect vehicle. The pursuit entered the City of Sacramento and ended at the intersection of 69th Street and Lemon Hill Avenue. Our department was notified that an officer-involved shooting occurred, and Sacramento Police Officers responded to assist.

An Elk Grove Police Officer rendered emergency medical aid to the suspect. The Sacramento Fire Department responded and pronounced the suspect deceased on scene. A firearm was located on scene (pictured below) and was recovered.

Due to this incident occurring in the City of Sacramento, the Sacramento Police Department (SPD) will be the lead agency for the officer-involved shooting investigation.

SPD Homicide Detectives, SPD Crime Scene Investigators, EGPD Professional Standards Unit, and EGPD Detectives responded to the scene to begin the officer-involved shooting investigation. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is providing oversight by monitoring the investigation.
