On Sunday, January 26, 2025, Sacramento Police Officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the 2300 Block of I Street. Responding officers located a male adult victim with at least one stab wound, who was transported to an area hospital. The suspect, 55-year-old Mark Reese of Sacramento was arrested on scene and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on felony assault charges, where he has remained.
On March 6, 2025, the Sacramento Police Department was made aware that the victim succumbed to his injuries from the stabbing. Mark Reese was additionally booked for homicide related charges. Our Homicide Detectives were notified and have taken over the investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
