On Saturday, April 19, 2025, just after 1:30 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 900 Block of Arden Way for an incomplete call to police with information that a possible shooting occurred. At the scene, officers located one female adult with at least one gunshot wound. Officers provided emergency medical aid to the victim until Sacramento Fire Personnel arrived on scene. The female victim unfortunately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.
Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. Investigators determined the incident to be a homicide and an arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect.
Later that evening, officers located a vehicle associated with the homicide and conducted a traffic stop. The homicide suspect who was an occupant in the vehicle, sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
