Fatal Hit-And-Run Collision Investigation & Arrest – 24th Street & Fruitridge Road

On Monday, May 5, 2025, just before 09:30 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a vehicle vs. bicyclist collision near the intersection of 24th Street and Fruitridge Road. Responding officers located an adult male victim with significant injuries. The victim was transported by Fire personnel to an area hospital for his injuries. The vehicle involved fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

Detectives worked diligently to identify the involved vehicle and suspect. Through that investigation, detectives located and arrested 29-year-old Lamont Jackson of Sacramento, who was booked on hit-and-run charges in the evening of May 5.

Late last week, the Sacramento Police Department was made aware that the victim succumbed to his injuries on May 13, 2025.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.

The Sacramento Police Department encourages any witnesses with information regarding this investigation to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
