On Sunday, June 1, 2025, just before 02:30 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision near the intersection of 6th Street and J Street. Responding officers located an adult male down in the roadway and Fire personnel pronounced the male deceased on scene. The vehicle involved fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed any witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
