On Monday, June 30, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., Sacramento Police officers responded to the area of Franklin Boulevard and 26th Avenue for reports of a physical fight. Responding officers detained the suspect, 34-year-old Enrique Gomez-Fonseca of Sacramento. Officers located the victim, who sustained blunt-force trauma injuries. Officers provided emergency medical aid to the victim, however despite those efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene by fire personnel.
Due to the circumstances, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. Gomez-Fonseca was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide related charges.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
