On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, just before 8:45 p.m., Sacramento Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Evergreen Street and Calvados Avenue. Responding officers located an adult female victim and an adult male, each with at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures, the female victim was pronounced deceased on scene by Fire personnel. The male was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary information indicates the male sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Due to the circumstances, Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, collected evidence, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. There is no suspect information to release at this time.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
