On Saturday, March 7, 2026, just after 8:00 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the area of Norwood Avenue and Jessie Avenue. Responding officers located an adult male pedestrian down in the roadway and attempted life saving measures. Despite those attempts, Fire personnel pronounced the pedestrian deceased on scene. Two vehicles were involved in the collision. One vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival, and the other vehicle remained on scene.
Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
