On March 10, 2026, just before 6:45 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon in the 3100 block of Northstead Drive. The caller reported a male adult armed with a knife chasing another male adult at a school campus. Responding officers located the suspect, armed with a knife, in front of the school. Officers gave the suspect multiple commands to put the knife down. The suspect refused to drop the knife, continued to advance towards officers and an officer-involved shooting occurred. One officer fired their firearm, and the suspect was struck at least one time. During the officer-involved shooting, a less lethal device was also deployed. Officers quickly rendered emergency medical aid to the suspect.

The suspect was transported for treatment at an area hospital by the Sacramento Fire Department, where he is currently in stable condition. The suspect will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail once he is medically cleared.

Officers recovered the knife on scene (pictured below). No officers were injured during this incident.
