On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, just after 7:45 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle that struck a parked vehicle, causing the parked vehicle to subsequently hit a pedestrian in the 3400 block of Ramona Avenue. Responding officers located an adult male pedestrian on scene with life threatening injuries. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. The other vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers later located the vehicle abandoned.
On June 29, the Sacramento Police Department was made aware the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries. Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) Detectives were notified and have taken over the investigation. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
