On Monday, September 14, 2026, just after 3:00 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist near Luther Drive and Florin Road. Responding officers located the adult male bicyclist on scene with life threatening injuries. Despite life saving measures, Fire personnel pronounced the male deceased on scene. The involved vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
