Fatal Hit-And-Run Collision and DUI Arrest – 6700 Block of 21st Avenue

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, just before 4:45 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 6700 block of 21st Avenue. Responding officers located two pedestrians involved in the collision: an adult male and a 1-year-old child. Both pedestrians were transported to an area hospital. Sadly, despite lifesaving efforts, the child succumbed to her injuries. The adult male sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officers detained the involved driver, as he attempted to leave the scene.

Due to the circumstances, our Major Collision Investigation Unit (MCIU) Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) responded to take over the investigation. They processed the scene, canvassed the area, and interviewed witnesses.

Following the investigation, the involved driver, 50-year-old Miguel Guzman of Sacramento, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges related to felony DUI causing great bodily injury and felony hit-and-run.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next-of-kin have been notified.
