UPDATE - In our continued commitment to public safety, the Sacramento Police Department is announcing the arrest of a 15-year-old male, who was booked on homicide related charges last night, July 31, 2025. This arrest would not be possible without the devoted officers and investigators who identified and located this suspect.

UPDATE - UPDATE: Through the ongoing efforts of our dedicated investigators, two additional suspects were identified in this case. A homicide arrest warrant was obtained for 24-year-old Johnnie Austin of Sacramento. He was located and taken into custody on September 04, 2025, and subsequently booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. An additional homicide arrest warrant was also obtained for 19-year-old Deshannon Malone of Sacramento. He was located and arrested on October 07, 2025, and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. Detectives responded out and began thoroughly investigating this case. Through their hard work and determination, investigators developed information on a suspect vehicle. On May 16, 2025, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The driver failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit. The driver was eventually detained and our homicide detectives responded out. After additional investigation, our investigators arrested the driver, 23-year-old Xavier Barron of Sacramento on homicide related charges. He has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
