UPDATE - On August 17, 2023, Officers responded to reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. The vehicle involved fled the scene and the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. Our Major Collision Investigation Unit responded and immediately began investigating what happened. Detectives worked tirelessly to determine who was responsible. Investigators not only identified the vehicle that was involved, through their tenacious work, they were also able to identify who the driver was. A warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest. On August 29, 2024, officers arrested 41-year-old Cecil Belton of Sacramento on felony hit-and-run resulting in death and other related charges. This is yet another example of the dedication of the men and women of the Sacramento Police Department to provide justice to victim's families.

UPDATE - On August 14, 2023, Sacramento Police Detectives arrested 39 year old Vincent Saenz of Sacramento for homicide related charges.
