UPDATE - Detectives in this case have been tirelessly conducting follow-up in this investigation. Today, and with the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office SED team and our Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT), we announce the arrest of two juvenile males (16 & 17-years-old) for the carjacking that occurred shortly after this shooting. Both suspects were booked at Juvenile Hall for their felony carjacking warrants. The homicide case will be presented to the District Attorney's office for filing.
UPDATE - On April 17, 2024, Sacramento Police Department Detectives were in the City of Oakland conducting follow up on this homicide investigation that occurred in the City of Sacramento. Sacramento Police Detectives requested the assistance of the Oakland Police Department in apprehending the suspect. During that process, Oakland Police Officers were involved in an officer-involved shooting with the suspect. UPDATE - In our efforts to keep the public safe, our detectives have been relentless in their pursuit of locating the suspect in this murder. On March 3, 2024, 32 year-old Avonte Teasely was arrested for murder in Oakland, CA. Teasley was transported and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on homicide related charges.
UPDATE - Detectives from the Sacramento Police Department have been relentless in searching for the individuals responsible for the murder of the victim in this case. Through their investigation, detectives identified 25-year-old Isaiah James and 25-year-old Ayonna Burgos of Sacramento as the two suspects in this homicide. Thanks to our federal law enforcement partners at the Federal Bureau of Investigations, both suspects were taken into custody today in New York City. Both suspects remain in custody and face extradition to Sacramento for homicide related charges.
UPDATE - During their tireless investigation by our MCIU detectives, investigators identified and arrested 64-year-old Antonio Fragoso of Sacramento for vehicular manslaughter related charges. Fragoso was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail in the evening of January 12, 2024.
