UPDATE - Detectives responded out and began thoroughly investigating this case. Through their hard work and determination, investigators developed information on a suspect vehicle. On May 16, 2025, deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office located the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. The driver failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit. The driver was eventually detained and our homicide detectives responded out. After additional investigation, our investigators arrested the driver, 23-year-old Xavier Barron of Sacramento on homicide related charges. He has been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
UPDATE - Through continued investigation of this fatal hit-and-run collision, detectives have identified the suspect vehicle associated with the collision. The vehicle is a silver 2006 to 2007 Nissan Pathfinder SUV with "LE" trim level 6-spoke wheels and a sunroof. There would be potential moderate front bumper and driver side damage. If you have any information or locate this vehicle, please contact the Sacramento Police Department immediately.
UPDATE - Following a diligent and thorough investigation of this incident by our detectives, a homicide arrest warrant was obtained for 23-year-old Kenneth Wade of Citrus Heights. Wade was located and taken into custody in Cincinatti on May 19th for the warrant. He will be transported to Sacramento, where he will be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail. This arrest highlights the critical role of collaboration with our law enforcement partners.
UPDATE - Through a thorough and extensive investigation, the Sacramento Police Department located 29-year-old Cotrino Mclin in Woodland, CA. Cotrino was arrested in the evening of March 4 and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide related charges. This arrest underscores the commitment that our detectives and officers exhibit to hold those who victimize our community accountable.
UPDATE - Through a diligent investigation by our detectives and tremendous community support, earlier this week, the Sacramento Police Department located and arrested 33-year-old Dandre Ortega of Sacramento. Dandre was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on manslaughter and firearm possession charges. This arrest underscores the determination that our investigators exhibit every day in our commitment to keeping our community safe and holding those who harm others accountable.
